CRAFTING MATERIALS
Each Crafting Line in ESO has its own set of Materials used for Crafting. Materials can be found in many places throughout the world of Tamriel, for a refresher on where to find Materials visit our ESO Beginner Crafting Guide.
BLACKSMITHING
Blacksmithing in ESO is used for making Heavy Weapons such as Swords & Maces & also Heavy Armour. You can find Forge Locations in many Cities around Tamriel.
You will need the appropriate Material for each Crafting Level, with the amount of Material needed varying by level & the Highest Level Items needing up to 150 mats per item.

For the Blacksmithing Skill Line there are 6 total Passive Lines & you will need 26 Skill Points to unlock everything. Some Skill Lines are more beneficial than others and should be prioritized when Levelling, especially as a Brand New Player when Skill Points
can be difficult to manage.

Below is a breakdown of the Skill Lines in order of how useful they are to invest in:

Metal Working – There are 10 total Levels for this Skill Line & each will unlock a new Material you can Craft with. This is the most useful line to level because it directly influences the kinds of Materials you will find in the world & getting it up to Level 10 will allow you the chance to get Master Writs when you complete your Daily Writs.
Metal Extraction – There are 3 levels in this tree & each one will improve your chances of getting better Materials from Deconstructing & Refining Raw Materials. Points put here will help you in the long run to get Upgrade Materials & Trait Materials to store for later.

Metallurgy – This Passive has 4 Levels & each one will reduce the time it takes to Research Traits as well as allow you to Research up to 3 items at once. This is extremely important as it will bring the time it takes to Research the last Trait down from 64 IRL World Days to just under 30 days.

Miner Hireling – This Passive will provide you with free Raw Materials every 12 hours in the Mail. As you level this you increase your chances to get the higher level upgrade Materials & the type of Crafting Material you receive depends on your Level of Crafting.
Temper Expertise – This Passive will reduce the amount of upgrade Materials needed to upgrade items.
Keen Eye Ore – This will cause Mining Nodes in the World to light up, making them easier to see. This one is last on the list as the Nodes themselves are not normally difficult to spot in general & when you are limited on Skill Points there are much more beneficial ways to spend them as you level.
This breakdown is only a recommendation to help you determine where the best place is to put Skill Points early on. If you do not plan to be a Crafter, at least invest in Metallurgy & Temper Expertise as these will make things easier for you when it comes to Research & Upgrading items. Research is always important because it will allow you to Transmute Items to change the Trait on them, & if you ever decide you do want to become a Crafter you will already have the Research done instead of having to start from scratch. Fully Researching every item can take months of real world time even with Skill Points invested in the right tree.

CLOTHING
The Clothing Station in ESO allows the Crafting of Light & Medium Armour. This is the only Station where you will have 2 Materials for each level of Crafting, one for Light Armour & one for Medium Armour. You can find Clothing Crafting Stations in most Cities. The Item Crafting Cost goes up as you Level & the highest level items cost up to 150 Materials per Item.

The Clothing Skill Line has a total of 6 Passives & will take 26 Skill Points in total to unlock everything.
When prioritizing where to spend your Points keep the below list in mind as some skills are more useful than others when you are limited on available Skill Points.

Tailoring – There are a Total of 10 Levels for this Skill, & each unlocks a new Material you can Craft with. This Skill also influences the types of Fibrous Plants you find in Resource Nodes around the World of Tamriel.

Unraveling – There are 3 Levels to this Passive Skill & each will allow you a better chance at getting Crafting & Upgrade Materials when you Deconstruct Items & Refine Raw Mats.

Stitching – This Skill has 4 Levels & reduces the time it takes to Research Traits on Items as well as allowing you to Research up to 3 Items at once. This sets the Maximum time for Researching to no more than 30 Days, meaning your 10th Trait on an item will take 30 Days or Less instead of the standard 64 Days.

Outfitter Hireling – This Passive has 3 Levels & provides you with Raw Materials, Upgrade Materials & Trait Materials every 12 Hours. The more you invest the better chance you have to get Higher End & Rare Mats.

Tannin Expertise – This Passive has 3 Levels & will allow you to upgrade items using fewer Materials.

Keen Eye Cloth – This Passive has 3 levels & causes Clothing Nodes to glow when you get within range of them. This can be helpful but is last on the list because these Nodes are pretty easy to spot & when you only have a few Skill Points there are much more beneficial ways to spend them.
The above list is a Recommendation based on the usefulness of each Skill to help you make the determination of where is best to place your Points early on. Even if you do not plan to become a Crafter, it is always a good idea to invest Points on at least one Character in the Stitching & Unraveling Skill Lines as those will help you get Materials when you break things down and reduce the time it takes to Research Items.
WOODWORKING
The Woodworking Station in ESO allows you to Craft Bows, Staves & Shields. Woodworking Stations can be found in many Cities around Tamriel. The Material cost goes up as you level, with the CP160 items needing 150 Materials to Craft.

Woodworking has 6 Passive Skills & will require 26 Skill Points to completely fill in all the Passives. Some Passives are more useful than others while Levelling & below you will find a rundown of the most important Skills to go for when you are Levelling & running short on Skill Points to invest.
Woodworking – This is the primary Passive for the Skill Line & will require 10 Points total to Max out the Level. You will also need to be Level 50 in the Woodworking Skill Line to get all 10 Levels & you will unlock New Materials that you can use as you level through Woodworking.

Wood Extraction – This Skill Line has 3 Ranks & will allow you to Extract more Materials out of items you Deconstruct as well as have a higher chance to get better Materials when Refining Raw Materials.

Carpentry – This Skill Line has 4 total Levels & will allow you to Research items faster & Research up to 3 Items at one time. At Max Rank you will limit Research time to 30 Days or less, instead of taking up to 64 days on the Final Trait for an item.

Lumberjack Hireling – This Skill Line has 3 Levels & will provide you with Materials sent in the Mail every 12 Hours. These Materials can be Normal Woodworking Crafting Materials up to Rare Trait Materials.

Resin Expertise – This Skill Line has 3 Levels & will allow you to upgrade items using fewer Materials.

Keen Eye Wood – This Skill Line has 3 Levels & will make it easier to see Material Nodes for Woodworking throughout the World. This is last on the list as spotting Nodes is generally not too difficult & there are much more valuable things to spend Points on when you are short on Points.

The above list is a Recommendation based on the most valuable Skills when you only have a few Points to spare & still want to invest. Even if you do not plan on becoming a Crafter you should focus on Researching Items & using the Carpentry & Resin Expertise Skill Lines to help you get Research done & upgrade items. This will ensure you are ready to Transmute & Upgrade items as needed when you get to the late game content.
JEWELLERY CRAFTING
Jewellery Crafting was introduced with the Summerset Expansion to ESO. Crafting Tables can be found in most Cities in Tamriel. This line can take a little longer to Level Up than others, but can be accomplished a little quicker if you are running Dolmens for Jewellery Drops and Deconstructing everything you pick up.

The Jewellery Crafting Skill Line has just 5 Passive Traits & will require 18 Skill Points to level up completely. Some Traits are more useful than others while Levelling & you will find below a run down of the Traits in order of which ones you will want to prioritize as you Level.

Engraver – This Skill Line has 5 Levels & will allow you to use higher level Materials to Craft higher Level Gear.

Jewellery Extraction – This Skill Line has 3 levels & will increase your chances of getting Materials from Deconstructing Jewellery as well as getting upgrade & Trait Materials from Refining Raw Materials.

Platings Expertise – This Skill Line has 3 Levels & will lower the cost of Upgrading Jewellery.

Lapidary Research – This Skill Line has 4 levels & will decrease the amount of time it takes to Research a Trait for items. You can only Research 1 item at a time with Jewellery Crafting, rather than 1 of each item like other Crafting Lines. Traits are also more difficult to come by on Jewellery items as some items only have a small chance to drop in Trials & PVP Areas.

Keen Eye Jewellery – This Skill Line has 3 Levels & will make it easier to see Jewellery Nodes in the world. This one is at the bottom of the list because Nodes are not too difficult to spot in general & Skill Points are more valuable in other places early on.

The above list is only a Recommendation based on the most useful Traits in the Jewellery Crafting Profession. As with other Professions you will want to focus on Research so you are able to Transmute Items you may need in the later game.
ENCHANTING
Enchanting in ESO can seem daunting at first, there are a lot of Runes that you will pick up as you Level & you will need to Experiment by combining them at the Enchanting table to unlock their Meaning. Below will help you identify the basics of each & there will be an Advanced Enchanting Guide Coming Soon to help you through combinations & how to make specific Enchantments.

Enchanting has 5 Passive Skills & will require 23 Skill Points to Level. There is no Research Line for Enchanting, instead you unlock Traits by creating Enchantments at the Enchanting Station.

You will need to put Skill Points in the Enchanting Passives in order to use some Runes. Below is a brief rundown of the Passives, ordered by their usefulness in the Skill Line to help you with deciding where to put your Skill Points.

Potency Improvement – This Skill Line requires the most investment of Points, needing 10 to unlock all available Runes. Potency Runes affect the type of affect you will get from the Essence Rune as well as the level of Gear the Enchantment can be placed on.

Aspect Improvement – This Skill Line takes 5 Points to level completely & affects how strong the Enchantment is.

Aspect Extraction – This Skill Line takes 3 Points to level up & will improve your chances of getting better quality Runes when you Deconstruct an Enchantment.

Hireling – This Skill Line takes 3 Points to level up completely & gives you Runes in the Mail every 12 Hours, with each Point invested increasing the chance to get more valuable Runes.

Keen Eye Runestones – This Skill Line has 3 Levels and will make the Enchanting Nodes in the World glow, making them slightly easier to see. They are usually pretty easy to spot without this, so adding Points here is more for if you have Points to spare.
The quickest way to Level the Enchanting Skill Line is through Deconstructing Glyphs that you get from Drops or having someone Craft Glyphs for you to Deconstruct. Every Enchantment you make will require one of each type of Rune, Potency + Essence + Aspect.
More information on the Enchanting Profession will be Coming Soon in a full ESO Beginner Enchanting Guide, so check back for that!
